Water, Warm Drinks and Everyday Breathing Comfort
Hydration is the least glamorous wellness habit and one of the easiest to let slip.

Your airways are lined with a thin layer of moisture. It is part of how the whole system stays comfortable, and it is influenced by two things you can control: what you drink and the air you spend your day in.
Where it slips
Heating in winter, air conditioning in summer, long flights and long workdays all dry the air out. A scratchy throat or a dry morning is often just a sign that the room, or you, could use some moisture.
Easy fixes
- Put water where you will see it. By the bed, on the desk, in the car.
- Add something warm. Tea or broth makes drinking more feel like a treat.
- Mind the room. Most guidance suggests keeping indoor humidity roughly between 30 and 50 percent. A basic humidity monitor costs little.
- Drink earlier, not just later. A glass of water first thing is a gentle way to start the day.
What it is not
Staying hydrated supports everyday comfort. It is not a treatment for anything, and a cough or breathing problem that lingers is a reason to see a clinician, not to drink more tea.
